Why spellcheck doesn’t always work

When you first learn proofreading

I remember the very first piece I had to proof.  It was only one double-sided piece.  My mentor had me proof it and then proofed it after I finished.   She asked me to reread one sentence.  It was a caption to a picture and was in italics with a 9 point font.  I read it and said, “OK”.  Then she asked me to read it again–which I did.  Again I said, “OK”.  AND THIS IS WHAT I’VE NEVER FORGOTTEN– (more…)
